SPOUSAL / COMMON LAW SPONSORSHIP
Under the spousal sponsorship program, a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident can sponsor their spouse or common-law to come to Canada and live permanently.
Requirements as a Sponsor : –
You may be eligible to sponsor your spouse or common-law partner if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and meet the following conditions:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Live in Canada, or planning to return to Canada once your spouse or partner becomes a permanent resident of Canada
- Are able and willing to provide for the basic financial needs of your spouse or partner for three years
- Meet other eligibility requirements
International students in Canada may be eligible for Post Graduate Work Permit after successful completion of their program and can gain valuable work experience.
Outland Sponsorship Application : –
Apply under this stream under following conditions :
- Your spouse/common-law partner (Applicant) lives outside of Canada
- Applicant is currently living in Canada with the sponsor but do not plan to stay in Canada for the duration of the application process
You can still apply for temporary resident visa to visit your partner in Canada until your application is in process.
Advantage- Provision of appeal the decision in case of refusal of the application
Inland Sponsorship Application : –
Apply under this category if you are already in Canada under following conditions :
- You live with the sponsor in Canada
- You hold a valid immigration status in Canada
- You would like to apply for an open work permit in Canada while your sponsorship application is in process
